On our return to school after the easter break we discovered in our pond :

• Tadpoles - the frogspawn had hatched
• A newt
• A small frog 

We have planted potatoes! Now to wait for the 'Edible gold!' Harvest time is 14th June 2016.

Mrs. Armstrong and Mrs. Peters went along the the AGM of the Cookham and Cookham Dean Horticultural Society on Wednesday 25th November 2015 to give a presentation about our school garden.

In the Key Stage 1 shelter we have had grapes on our Grape Vine and the Box bushes are establishing well. As part of the RHS Cookham In Bloom Edible Garden Theme 2012 this area was planted with runner beans, broad beans, peas and french beans as well as the usual mix of summer bedding and herbaceous plants.

Our pots were used for tomatoes and the hanging baskets displayed petunias, antirrhinum and geraniums.

In the garden area outside of classrooms 4 and 5, the wildlife ponds are establishing themselves. We have frogs and newts which we hope will continue to survive. A new addition to our planting is a Gunnera, known commonly as a rhubarb plant. Please scroll down for pictures.

A Song Thrush has been spotted  breaking open his snail dinner on the slabs, lets hope she is still around to help us with the snails! In this area we also have two raised beds, our Eden style dome, two water butts, four compost bins and a log pile. We have also haddonations of old RBWM recycle bins which we have used to grow our herbs and an ornamental grass. We have planted Bamboo next to the pond which we hope will create a beautiful backdrop to our garden as well as add to the sensory idea. We now have a hedgehog house which we hope will be used this year. We have added an ornamental pond which has been stocked with fish donated to us from two lovely local people and a willow dome which we hope will grow into a lovely enclosed play den and wildlife haven.
