Cookham Rise Primary School

HeadteacherHello and welcome to our website. You will find lots of information about us on this site however to get a real feel for our school please do make an appointment to come and look around and see us at work and at play.

Our vision is that all our children will ‘shine’. We value all members of our community and the contribution that they make to our school. We encourage the children to reach their full potential in every area through the provision of a curriculum which is varied, engaging and exciting.

Deputy Headteacher

All members of the school community really enjoy our weekly curriculum weeks and recently we have had a science week, International week and an art week. In September this year the whole school went to Brighton to visit the Sea-Life Centre and this formed the basis of an ‘Under the sea project’ which resulted in some fantastic work from our pupils. We also use National events as an opportunity to inform and enhance the curriculum e.g. Comic Relief, World Book Day and Everybody Draws.

We keep the school community informed about what we are doing through a weekly newsletter and curriculum letters sent to parents by class teachers at the end of each week so that we establish and maintain strong links between home and school.

The school has seen a number of changes over the past two years with the following improvements and developments taking place: a new ICT suite; a new playground for children in Reception and KS1; a school rewire and makeover in certain key areas. The improvement that the children have been most impressed with has been the updating of the toilets which, following decisions made by the children, are now new and vibrant!

2011 sees our Eco Warriors becoming more established and, having achieved the Bronze Eco Award, they are now moving on to work towards the Silver Award this year. It also sees the start of Peer Mediation, with a trained and dedicated group of Year 6 children supporting others on the playground. The KS2 playground has also just been updated and there is now a dual trim trail with climbing area and an outdoor classroom as well as a quiet area for the children to sit in. We plan to add to this more in the months to come.
