This term we have been thinking about growing and changing. This week we are considering how humans change as they grow up. We have taken real pride in ourselves and thought about how we have changed since starting school in September.
We all enjoyed holding or stroking our chicks.
Our chicks have now left their incubator and have moved into their brooder box. They have also been able to venture out to explore a little bit of Elm classroom.
Wednesday 3rd May: Our chicks have started to hatch!
4 little chicks have now hatched and 2 more are on their way. It is very exciting in Elm Class.
Tuesday 2nd May, our eggs have arrived in Elm Class. We are looking forward to meeting our chicks when they hatch.
Whilst learning about dinosaur teeth, we compared them to our own teeth. Elm class enjoyed a visit from Tam and discovered how we can look after our own teeth.
Elm class have been revisiting 2D shape names. Look at the brilliant shape dinosaurs some of the children have created. Can you spot the different shapes the children used?
The children loved creating their very own salt dough dinosaur fossils. They are now on display in our very own dinosaur museum!
We had a fabulous day in Elm Class this Shrove Tuesday. We weighed, measured and made our very own pancakes. We then got to eat them with lemon juice and sugar. Yum yum!
In the role play, creative area and mud kitchen, lots of us used our brilliant imaginations to create our own pancakes.
After lunch we had our very own pancake races using real pancakes. It was great fun flipping our pancakes in the air...only a few landed on the ground!
We are now able to use the fireman pole on our climbing frame. We are fabulous!
We were so excited to see a little bit of snow. If only there had been a bit more!
Elm Class loved their final Christmas celebrations at school. Wearing Christmas jumpers, they were delighted to welcome a surprise visit from Father Christmas.
Have a truly wonderful Christmas everybody and a wonderful new year!
Look at our beautifully decorated tree that is part of the display at St Luke's Church. We are very proud of it.
Elm Class loved performing 'The Bossy King' to Key Stage One and Two. The audience thought it was fabulous too. Well done Elm Class - you are superstars!
We have thoroughly enjoyed having our toys in school with us so today made them a rather lovely picnic to share. First we had to make the jam sandwiches ourselves. They were really delicious. Our toys thought so too!
Our new topic in Elm Class is 'Toys'. We loved opening our topic by showing our toys our classroom! There will be lots more fun for our toys as the week goes on.
We are loving playing and exploring in 'Elm Travels' and becoming experts in booking holidays. Dreaming of a warm getaway at the moment!
Elm Class have thoroughly enjoyed developing their knowledge of Programmable Toys using our school Beebots.
Autumn Term 2
This term is a very exciting term in Elm class. We are beginning our learning based on travelling and will then be moving on to think about toys. Our term will finish by incorporating the joy of Christmas in many different and fun learning experiences.
We will also be very busy preparing for our Christmas performance 'The Bossy King'.
Welcome to Elm class.
We have been delighted to settle the children in to 'big' school this week and are looking forward to an exciting year ahead.
