"We want all our children to SHINE"

Bike It

Welcome to our B.U.G.s (Bike User Group's) page.

In association with www.sustrans.co.uk we are working to get all our children to cycle to school. As well as encouraging our children to cycle we will take part in events over the school year in order to earn awards. Sustrans' school mark recognises and supports schools' excellence in active and sustainable travel. There are three progressive levels for us to work through - Bronze, Silver and Gold.

Patrick Romaya has run successful scooter and bike skills lessons which we have continued.

Bike It Breakfasts - Any person who rides a bike to school gets a free breakfast - even the adults!

Bling Your Bike - Decorate your bike and win prizes.

Bike Skills - Learn and gain confidence on your bike.

Stay healthy and save the planet too!

Cookham Rise Bike It Day

Patrick Romayo visited Cookham Rise Primary School as the 'Bike It' program draws to a close.

We had a packed timetable which started at 8am for a ‘Bike It’ breakfast. A full day of bike skills followed with approx. 74 children taking part. Finishing with ECO Club at 4.15pm.

During ECO club Patrick reminded the children about fossil fuels, saving energy and climate change before rounding of the day with a final cycling session for 8 of our club members.

“Our aim is to get children safe and proficient on their bikes as well as promote a healthy and active lifestyle in time for the summer holidays and beyond. It is sad that this initiative is coming to an end  - the children have enjoyed it” - Mrs Armstrong

On 12th November Patrick Romayo visited us and during assembly reminded us about Hi-Visibility especially as we go forward into the Winter.

On 4th November 2014 we held an early morning 'Bling your bike, then Bring your bike to school' session.
