The furniture has arrived, the screen has been put up and the cabin is good to go! I am so pleased with this lovely space do come and have a look on Friday and buy a coffee and cake to support MacMillan! Thank you to all the Reception parents who were able to come along to the reading and writing evening last week—I hope that you found the session useful and my thanks to Mrs Rogers and Mrs Hunter for running it.

Our Cabin is nearly ready to be used! I’m hoping that the furniture will arrive this week and the screen is being fitted this week. Most importantly, the outdoor beanbags for the decking have arrived! Our first event in it will be a coffee morning for MacMillan a week on Friday.

Well done to all those children in Year 6 who had prepared speeches for the head boy and girl hustings on Friday—they all did really well and the results will be announced on Friday.

Thank you and well done to Mrs Bennett who has ensured that we retained the Silver Sport Award for 2017-18.  More information about this and our work towards Gold can be found on page 7.

We are looking forward to the performance of ‘The Jungle Book’ this afternoon and hope that this will provoke some lovely writing. Our thanks to the PTA for funding this for all of the children.

Welcome back to the new school year—with a special welcome to our new children and families joining us in Reception.

I hope that you have had a lovely summer break—I have enjoyed hearing from the children about all they have been up to!

We welcome Miss Wrightson to our teaching team as our new Year 4 teacher.

There have been some additions to the school over the holidays, both internally and externally. All of these have been funded through bids to the charity Spoore Merry and Rixman, for which I am hugely grateful.

We now have a fantastic outdoor learning space which we plan to use for a range of things—including as an additional teaching space and for after school activities, but also as a space for parents and families and for training purposes. We also have new Clevertouch screens in every classroom and have relocated some of our other screens to the Lighthouse Room, IT suite and soon to the outdoor classroom.

I look forward to future events when we can show you these fantastic new resources!
