We had some very exciting news last week when we found out that our bid for £35 000 to install new Clevertouch screens in each classroom has been successful! We are hoping that this work can take place over the summer holidays and the new technology will be in place ready for September.

My thanks to Mrs Bond for all the support she gave me in putting the bid together and to all of Year 4 who trialled a new Clevertouch screen in their class a few weeks ago and contributed their thoughts which all supported the final proposition.

We had the induction meeting for new Reception parents last week and this week we look forward to welcoming half of our new cohort at a time. A very warm welcome to all of our new parents as well as to those who are starting the induction process for a second or third time!

Well done to our Year 1 children and to all of the staff involved in teaching them their phonics—they did brilliantly last week. They had a fantastic attitude towards the screening check (possibly helped by biscuits!) and performed really well across both days.

I really enjoyed sports day and would like to thank you all for coming along and being such great supporters! In addition, my thanks once again to Mrs Bennett for organising the day and to Mrs Bown for all the help she gave to Mrs Bennett along the way and on the day.

I was really impressed by the children who participated so well, supported other pupils and showed really good sportsmanship.

At least every four years schools are moderated by the Local Authority with regards to their assessments— this is for end of Foundation stage, end of KS1 and end of KS2. Last week our early years was moderated and I would like to express my thanks to the Reception team for making it such a positive experience by being so professional and well-prepared. They were praised for how well they know the children and their very accurate judgements. Well done and thank you!

In addition, a big ‘well done’ to Mrs Peters who organised a fantastic interiors sale on Saturday with all proceeds going to New Brainstorm School. It was great to see so many staff supporting her so my thanks to them as well as to Natalie Reid-Hughes for all that she did to prepare, promote and support on the day. Over £8000 was raised for this fantastic cause! Read more......

I hope that you all had a lovely May break and welcome back to term 6!

We spent our training day yesterday looking at our curriculum and agreed as a staff upon some of the key things that drive it. These include:

Creativity—with the desire to engage and motivate the children as much as possible

Opportunities—enabling the children to see all the possibilities that are open to them

Community—from our school commu-nity through to the diversity of the global community

Underpinning all of this is our commitment to the physical health and emotional well-being of the children.
