  It has been a lovely first term of the new academic year—thank you. Hopefully you received your child’s brief summary tick sheet last Friday (years 1—6) and will then be joining us to discuss how your child has settled at one of the consultation sessions this week. Mrs O’Mahony and I will both be available each evening should you wish to talk to us about anything or include us in your discussions with the class teachers.

  .I was fortunate to be part of a ‘Challenging Boys’ conference on Friday hearing Gary Wilson and Alexander Armstrong speak and then being part of a panel where we asked about strategies used to engage male learners. It was really gratifying to have the opportunity to recognise how up-to-date we are as a school with regards to current research .

  I spent some time last week doing a learning walk where I focused on behaviours for learning and talked to the children about our behaviour system. I was very impressed with their knowledge and understanding of our three rules (ready, respectful and safe) and they were also able to articulate how the Recognition Boards in class work.
