    Welcome to Ash 2!

The Year 2 team is excited to support and guide your children throughout their final year of Key Stage 1. Across the school, we consistently promote our core expectations of being ready, respectful, and safe, while embedding our values of kindness, curiosity, and personal best within all aspects of the curriculum.

The Year 2 class teacher is Mrs. Collibee, supported by Mrs. Pocock as the teaching assistant. On Thursday afternoons, Miss. Maher w

ill teach the class during PPA cover, and M.r Brown will lead PE lessons on Monday mornings.

Throughout Year 2, we are committed to developing each child's confidence, independence, and resilience, ensuring they are well prepared for a successful transition to Key Stage 2.

The daily routine in Year 2 follows a structured visual timetable that ensures coverage of all core and foundation subjects. The timetable also includes opportunities for regular movement and wellbeing breaks, such as morning break, lunchtime, and the Daily Mile, where children run around the school track to support their physical health and mental wellbeing.

While there is no formal homework set in Year 2, we encourage children to read at home every day, as this plays a vital role in developing their confidence, fluency, and enjoyment of reading.

We use Seesaw as our primary platform for communicating with parents and carers. Through Seesaw, we will share photographs and updates to give families an insight into classroom learning and to celebrate the children's achievements. In addition, a weekly newsletter will be sent via Seesaw, providing an overview of the week's learning alongside any important notices and upcoming events.
