"We want all our children to SHINE"

Beech 5

It's nearly the end of the Summer Term 2015 and it's goodbye to our latest topic, We'll Meet Again.

This topic focused on World War II - the years 1939 to 1945 - and, in particular, the war in Europe.

In class, we will be exploring many of the themes and issues of the period through stories set in the period and started with the classic Goodnight Mr Tom.

We launched with a World War II dressing up day on 23rd April - see below for pictures.

Later, in June we went on the Children at War residential - happy memories!

Details of our topic-web can be found in the link immediately below:

We had great fun imitating British voices from the war-time period and recording them, along with sound effects, for an instalment of a radio play.

We'll Meet Again Stunning Start - 23rd April 2015

In Beech 5 we have made a contract between pupils and staff which establishes how we all agree to behave.  Our aim is to review it during the year to make sure it continues to meet our needs.

Topic Book Covers

The children designed their own covers for their topic books.  On the front cover is a picture of a Roman Senate.  The faces have been made using thumb-prints with paint with the details drawn in with fine-line markers to create expressive characters partaking in a debate.  The reverse picture is of someone or something the child particularly associates with this topic.
