Welcome to Elm Class

We are very excited to be welcoming all our families, new and continuing to celebrate the start of their children's education at Cookham Rise Primary School.

Mrs Rogers is the class teacher on Monday and Tuesday.  Mrs Hunter is the class teacher on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  We are supported by our wonderful teaching assistants: Mrs Warrington, Mrs Bond, and Miss Floyd.

In Reception we have daily stories, phonics, and maths lessons.  These start as very short sessions and build up in time as we progress through the year.  We prioritise the children's play as this is where a lot of learning takes place: communication, social skills, and physical development.  We have carefully arranged our timetable so that this play has as few interruptions as possible to enable the children to achieve flow in their play choices.  

Each curriculum focus happens over a week in order to inspire the children to develop their understanding further.  We have a carefully curated vocabulary list which we will share with you in the weekly class letter.
