Topic |
Make your ship. Create and test that your ship floats. I know that a few of you have done this already. So if you would like an extra task you could create a flag for your ship in a collage. The fun thing about collages is that you can use lots of different materials to make them – cotton wool, baking paper, card, straws, cardboard, tissues, string, wool, magazine cuttings, food packaging. |
Class Reader | Listen to the second chapter of our class reader ‘ The Wreck Of Zanzibar’.This can be found on SeeSaw. |

Monday 20th April
Welcome back to the Summer Term. We hope you had a lovely Easter break and are ready to sail the seven seas with our summer topic - storms and shipwrecks. Each child should have received in the post an individual Seesaw code so that they can upload work to Seesaw for us to see. There may be some teething problems with this but we will aim to get them smoothed out as soon as possible. Many thanks in advance to Mrs Bond for this! I will continue to post English and Maths work along with other activities linked to other areas of the curriculum and our new topics. I will be giving more than you should need so please don't feel they have to do the extensions or any of the additional activities that I will be posting. I look forward to catching up with you this week.

Literacy Task |
Over the next few weeks we will be completing tasks based on Lighthouse an animation. Each day there will be an activity to complete, this week we will be completing tasks that will help us to write a story at the end of the week. We hope you enjoy it.
Reading comprehension – The Lighthouse. This can be found in additional resources. |
Spelling Task |
Unit 10, page 41. Complete the spelling zone. |
Maths Task |
Today we will be mentally adding a 1-digit to a 3-digit number using number facts. Find the questions and an extension activity in additional resources. Top tip: Encourage children to use bonds and number facts rather than count on in 1s as it is quicker and more accurate. They could use bonds to next 10 and then add the rest, e.g. 486 + 7 = 486 + 4 + 3 = 493. Or they could use number facts, e.g. 7 + 2 = 9, especially if they are not crossing 10. |
Timetables |

Topic |
Create a fact file on one of the following ships; The Titanic, The Mary Rose or The Golden Hinde. A template can be found in additional resources but it would be great to see them use this as a guide and not a worksheet. |
