  We were very fortunate to have had a visit from Katie, a former Olympian and team GB synchronised swimming coach, last week. She had some really valuable messages for KS2 children about persevering and working hard to achieve goals.

  Max’s funeral on Friday was a lovely and fitting tribute to a special boy who will clearly be remembered by a great many people. We will be organising a coffee morning and cake sale to raise money for a memorial in the school for Max and my thanks to those parents who have said they will help with this.

  We started the term with a visit from our RWI consultant. She spent all of last Tuesday observing sessions and updating our training as well as reviewing our reading provision with us. It was a very positive day and my thanks in particular to Mrs Rogers and Mrs O’Mahony who worked with her all day as well as to Gaynor Sprules, our Chair of Governors, who came in to see how these development days work.

  Welcome back to school and a new decade! I hope that you had a lovely break. For many of us it has been overshadowed by the tragic news of Max.
